Let’s discuss your project

Need independent access control for two pedestrian lanes, a specific finish or reader integration? Share your passage requirements with MK GateTech to discuss the available configuration options for your TBT 3220.

INTEGRATION & OPTIONS

Standard Control Interfaces

The TBT 3220 is designed to operate with external access control systems. Its two independent control boards support separate management of the passage lanes.

The specified access control interface includes dry contact, 12 VDC and 24 VDC connections. A dry contact provides a switching signal from external equipment. The connection method should be selected according to the electrical requirements of the turnstile and the connected controller.

Standard control provisions include:

  • DIP-switch direction control for configuring the operating direction.

  • Directional dry contact output for signalling to connected equipment.

  • Emergency input for connection to an external emergency control arrangement.

Optional Reader Integration

Mounting provisions are available for card readers or fingerprint readers. These allow the turnstile to be incorporated into an identification and access authorisation system.

Reader equipment, controller compatibility and the scope of integration should be defined for the project.

Optional Remote & PC Control

An external remote control option is available for operating the turnstile remotely.

For larger installations, optional advanced PC control supports centralized control of up to 256 turnstiles. Optional serial communication is available through RS-232, RS-422 or RS-485 interfaces.

Optional Weight Detection Platform

The weight detection platform provides weight-based passage verification, with alarm or PC notification. The required coverage of the two passage lanes should be confirmed when specifying this option.

Optional Token System

A separate floor-mounted token unit is available in powder-coated steel or AISI 304 stainless steel, with an approximate capacity of 7,000 tokens.

The specified tokens measure Ø25 × 2 mm and can be supplied with optional custom markings.

Optional equipment and the final integration scope should be confirmed when requesting a quotation.

MATERIALS & FINISHES

The TBT 3220 is available in three construction options, allowing material selection to be discussed according to the installation environment and project specification.

Powder-coated steel

A steel construction with a powder-coated finish. The required colour and finish can be discussed when specifying the product.

AISI 304 stainless steel

A stainless steel construction using AISI 304 material for projects specifying this grade.

Mixed construction

A configuration combining construction materials. The material allocation for individual components should be confirmed as part of the project specification.

When requesting a quotation, indicate the preferred construction option, installation environment and any specific finish requirements.

OPERATION & SAFETY

Independent Lane Operation

Each passage lane has its own rotor mechanism and microprocessor-based control board. The two lanes operate independently and support bidirectional passage control, with separate passage monitoring for each lane.

Controlled Passage Cycle

Each three-arm rotor divides a complete revolution into three 120° passage cycles. Solenoid locking at each 120° position controls the rotor between successive passages.

Anti-Backtracking Mechanism

The anti-backtracking mechanism prevents reverse rotation after the rotor has moved through 30°. This helps maintain the intended direction once a passage cycle is underway.

Hydraulic Damping

Hydraulic shock absorbers control rotor movement during operation. Damping reduces abrupt movement and supports a smoother transition between locking positions.

Direction Indicators & Audible Signalling

Flush-mounted LED indicators communicate the passage direction to users. An integrated buzzer provides audible notification as part of the turnstile’s signalling system.

Emergency Passage Mode

The specified emergency mode permits free passage through both lanes in both directions. An emergency input is provided for connection to the installation’s emergency control arrangement.

The full-height structure remains physically in place during this mode; free passage refers to the operation of the rotors.

TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS

The specified operating temperature range and IP54 protection class should be considered when selecting the installation location. Site conditions and project requirements should be reviewed before the final configuration is confirmed.

The TBT 3220 combines mains-powered electromechanical operation with a rated throughput of up to 30 persons per minute per lane. Actual pedestrian flow depends on the identification process, access control settings and user behaviour.

KEY FEATURES

Two independently controlled passage lanes

The TBT 3220 provides two pedestrian lanes within a shared full-height structure. Each lane has an independent rotor mechanism and control board, allowing passage through the two lanes to be controlled and monitored separately.

Designed for intensive use

A robust, impact-resistant construction and two bearing-supported rotor mechanisms support frequent operation. Concealed base bearings form part of the rotor support assemblies.

Reduced mechanical friction

The bearing-supported mechanisms are designed to reduce resistance within the moving assemblies. The product datasheet specifies approximately 60% less mechanical friction and approximately 70% longer service life.

Smooth, controlled movement

Hydraulic damping supports smooth, quiet rotor movement during each passage cycle. The three-arm rotors move between 120° locking positions, with anti-backtracking protection to prevent reverse rotation once the passage cycle has progressed.

Integration with access control systems

The turnstile provides interfaces for connection to external access control equipment. Optional mounting provisions for card readers or fingerprint readers allow the two passage lanes to be incorporated into the project’s identification and authorisation system.

TBT 3220

Double-Lane 3-Arm Full-Height Turnstile

The TBT 3220 is a double-lane, full-height turnstile with two independently operated three-arm rotors for intensive pedestrian access control. Each lane has its own microprocessor-based control board and supports bidirectional electromechanical operation with a 120° passage cycle and hydraulic damping.

Designed for industrial facilities, stadiums and restricted-access areas, the TBT 3220 combines two controlled pedestrian passages within one full-height structure. Independent passage monitoring allows each lane to be managed separately, while interfaces for external access control systems support the site’s identification and passage authorisation requirements.
